  5. CW chirp on first character element.

  7. This effect was noticeable on early production run models. The amount of
  8. chirp varies with the setting of the shift/width control.
  9. Remedy: remove C153, 3u3 from PLL board. (Twist and rip to remove.)

  11. Key clicks on CW.

  13. Add 1uF 50v electrolytic on RF PCB between long lead of R1045 and test pin
  14. G1, +ve lead to R1045 (scrape paint off lead first). Cut white wire to J4017
  15. on PLL board and insulate. (J4017 is in Q4007,8,9,11 area of PLL board and
  16. may, in some manuals, be wrongly identified as J4015. Identify the four
  17. transistors mentioned and the correct point will be clearly seen.)

  19. Protection of TC5081 on AM/FM unit.
  20. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  21. Replace L6002 and L6004 with 56R 1/8W resistors. These become known as
  22. R6056 and R6057 respectively. Insert a 470R 1/8W resistor (R6058) in the
  23. lead to pin 5 of Q6013 (TC5081). Technique is to cut the track and bridge
  24. the cut with the resistor. Decouple pin 5 of Q6013 to ground with a .047uF
  25. 50v ceramic cap (C6074). (Yaesu factory mod.)
